Elon Musk spent the day after the Democratic midterm sweep mostly promoting Grok Bot, the SpaceXSI agent that can now place phone calls, and closed the night with a three-word reply to a Democratic lawmaker who wants advanced AI paused. This edition covers 7:11 a.m. PST Wednesday, Nov. 4, to 7:11 a.m. PST Thursday, Nov. 5. It quotes his posts with a link to each, follows Jacob and Isaac’s topic order (last confirmed Oct. 28; the desk found no newer episode to check against), and pairs claims with other sources where the desk found them. The desk found no new interview or public appearance by Musk in the window. Video follows at the end.

Highlights. He wrote “Everyone is using Grok @Bot” over a pocket-sized Grok Bot prototype from Razer’s chief executive () and “Grok @Bot can call your dentist on the phone!” (). He answered Rep. Ansari’s call for an AI pause and a superintelligence ban with “It’s a Brave New World” (). And he agreed, “True,” with a viral thread framing the future as “robots vs bankruptcy” ().

1. SpaceX and Starlink. He reposted SpaceX satellite-policy vice president David Goldman: “Starlink Mobile is continuing to provide service with Orange and Telefónica following the tragic train derailment in Spain. We've connected more than 36,000 people in the region so far” (; ). TSN reports that Orange España switched on Starlink Mobile near the crash site at Urda, in Toledo province, on Oct. 28, and notes that “TSN found no statement from Telefónica itself” (TSN; El Español); the desk did not verify the 36,000 figure. He reposted @cb_doge’s report that Canada’s Starlink contract grew from “C$2.26 million” to “C$28.95 million” (; ). The Tyee, publishing the Investigative Journalism Foundation’s reporting, puts the rise at “$2.3 million to $28.9 million” over six amendments and notes that Prime Minister Mark Carney has said Canada will “diversify away from” Starlink (The Tyee; IJF Paper Trail); TeslaNorth reads the federal record as keeping “the end date at March 31, 2027,” while @cb_doge, citing the IJF, wrote that the contract “could continue until 2029” (TeslaNorth). He also reposted @cb_doge on plans in Vietnam’s Lâm Đồng province to place Starlink near Gia Bắc Pass with FPT Telecom for rescue coverage (); VnExpress reports that officials surveyed a site on Nov. 5 (VnExpress). Just after midnight he reposted Qualcomm executive Durga Malladi: “@SpaceX selected @Qualcomm #Dragonwing to accelerate @Starlink Mobile's nationwide 5G network” (; ); The Verge reports first deployments “set for 2027” (The Verge).

2. Tesla, 3. X, 4. Boring Company and Neuralink, 5. AI compute. The desk found no posts on these topics in the window.

6. Grok Bot. Nine posts, covered in the deep dive below: three quote posts urging people to try it (; ; ), the “Everyone is using” post (), and five reposts of users and staff on calls, shopping, Pages and engineering.

7. U.S. politics. At 7:11 a.m. Wednesday, the first minute of the window, he replied “Voter ID failed in California” to @cremieuxrecueil’s post that voters “agreed with Republicans on every policy at issue and then voted Democrat” (); the previous edition also listed this reply, and the desk did not confirm a California voter ID result. His “It’s a Brave New World” reply to Ansari drew coverage: Tom’s Hardware noted that some users pushed back on her call, among them a user describing late-stage cancer who argued that AI research could save his life (Tom’s Hardware). Tech Times reports that Ansari cosponsors H.R. 10538, the Ban Artificial Superintelligence Act of 2026, and that “Neither proposal has become law” (Tech Times). His “True” over Le Pogam’s thread endorsed its argument that “If the state can't be reformed, there are only two ways this ends”: “global bankruptcy” or “robots” ().

8. Europe and the world. At 6:23 a.m. Thursday he reposted @wholemars: “In hindsight, it was a mistake for SpaceX to send them thousands of free Starlink dishes and millions of dollars a month in free service at the beginning of the war” (; ). That post quoted a clip of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who told ZDF’s Jan Böhmermann, per Ally Daily, “Having so much power concentrated in the hands of a very rich person is dangerous” (Ally Daily). The Tyee reports that Musk “has said he ordered a slowdown of access to Starlink in the Ukraine” last month (The Tyee).

Deep dive: Musk sells Grok Bot, one testimonial at a time

Grok Bot started placing outbound phone calls to U.S. numbers this week. The official @bot account announced, “Grok Bot can now make phone calls,” with a 42-second demo, which Musk shared through a repost of @Baconbrix (“Bot has this bias for action that makes it feel like the most fearless coworker you’ve ever worked with”) (; ). TeslaNorth describes the flow: a “Phone call” card names whom the bot plans to call, the call goes out after the user taps Call, and “a live transcript shows both sides of the conversation” (TeslaNorth). The Rundown reports that the feature reached paid users and that SpaceXSI’s terms make users the “caller of record,” and Teslarati reports that the terms “require every call to identify itself as a virtual assistant” and that calling “currently works only with US numbers” (The Rundown; Teslarati).

Musk amplified user stories rather than product specs. Over @Texas_Twins_Dad’s account of a call to his car insurer about a renewal that “went up 14% with zero accidents,” he wrote “Try Grok @Bot. It’s like hiring an amazing assistant!” (), about 2.4 million views. He reposted the same user’s measurement that an 85-second call moved his usage from “5.8%” to “6.0%” () and his story of a friend with “4 bots” who nearly canceled (). Over Arthur MacWaters, whose bot called a dentist “to see if they take my insurance,” he wrote “Grok @Bot can call your dentist on the phone!” (). Over Google product manager Shubham Saboo, who wrote that he moved “everything from OpenClaw, Hermes and Muse to just Grok Bot,” he wrote “Try Grok @Bot!” (). He also reposted @kiaraplds: “I used to treat them like assistants. Now I treat them like real employees” ().

Two staff posts filled in the product side. He reposted Grok Bot’s Matt Palmer’s four-minute “Pages in Grok Bot” walkthrough (; ); per the help page, a page “is something a Bot builds for you to read, such as a report, a memo, a dashboard, a tracker, or an explainer,” and “Pages is rolling out gradually” (Grok Bot help; Tao). He also reposted engineer Lauren Tan’s preview of her AI Engineer Code Summit talk, which said the team ships “crazy amounts of code (30x'd) without reading it” and that “~230 people landed at least 1 PR to grok bot in october!” (; ); the summit runs Nov. 10–12 in San Francisco (AI Engineer). On shopping, he reposted @larsencc: “Shopping is the most underrated agent use case” (). The desk did not test any of the user claims.
