Elon Musk spent Thursday, Oct. 29, and that night mostly on the Nov. 3 midterms: he cast an early ballot in Texas, told followers that “51 Republican senators in 2029” would prevent a “permanent one-party state” (), and called Virginia Gov. Abigail Spanberger “utterly racist and sexist regarding White men.” Between political posts he promised a better Grok, pitched Neuralink’s first two products and reacted to the largest crypto theft on record. This edition covers 7:13 a.m. PT Thursday to 7:13 a.m. PT Friday, lists the highlights first, follows his topics in the usual order, closes with a deep dive on the Senate post and ends with the videos.

Highlights. His 10:28 p.m. post listed what he expects from a Democratic sweep in 2028 (statehood for DC and Puerto Rico, legal status for people “living in America illegally” and a larger Supreme Court) and concluded, “That is why you should vote for Republican senators this election” (); Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) answered that “What’s coming was avoidable” (). He wrote “Grok 4.8 will not be a disappointment” and “We’re not optimizing for benchmarks” (). And he said Neuralink’s Blindsight waits only on regulators ().

1. SpaceX and Starlink. He reposted Sawyer Merritt’s summary of a SpaceX filing that faults T-Mobile and other carriers (). In reply comments to the FCC, SpaceX wrote that “the misplaced desire to harm a competitor has led many incumbents to oppose modernized rules that would bring direct-to-cell service to underserved border communities,” TeslaNorth reports, and asked the agency to reject T-Mobile’s proposed tower-protection limits (TeslaNorth; PCMag). The desk found no T-Mobile response in the window. “BABY, YOU FLEW,” he wrote over @Anto_Sabatella’s video “Claudia x Roadster,” an AI-tool piece whose post thanks @midjourney and @BytePlusGlobal (; ). Quoting a post on chip progress, he wrote, “The Terafab project is going well” (); THE ELEC reports that Tesla and SpaceX representatives visited booths of about 10 Korean suppliers at SEMICON West and that several signed nondisclosure agreements (THE ELEC). He also reposted @cb_doge on Starlink plans for flood response in Medan, Indonesia, and on a Swedish sailor rescued off South Africa (; ), and answered a chart of expected SpaceX profit growth with “Tesla will be very high too” ().

2. Tesla. Tesla items came only as reposts: Robotaxi’s Accessibility Day with members of the disabled community (), Tesla Energy’s Powerwall heat-pump feature () and the new Starbase police department’s Cybertrucks ().

3. X. Answering a user about the long tracking code in copied X links, he posted a screenshot labeled “Feedback from my team” and wrote, “Links are just used for improving the algorithm recommendations and making advertising relevance suck less” (). Cybernews reports that copied X links now carry parameters that identify how a post got shared and advises users to clean links before sharing (Cybernews).

4. Neuralink. Quoting Neuralink’s account of a 72-hour engineering visit to a speech-study participant, he wrote, “Neuralink’s first product is called Telepathy” and that its “Output bandwidth will vastly exceed the fastest human speech or typing in a few years” (); then, “Our second product is called Blindsight” (), and “Hopefully, in a few years, we will be able to shunt signals from the motor and sensory areas of the brain to the limbs and enable people to use their hands and walk again” (). To a parent whose daughter has daily seizures he wrote, “Neuralink will solve that with finesse at some point,” and suggested “existing devices” (). Neuralink says the visit produced a Grok agent that a participant triggers by imagining “Hey Neuralink,” plus phone-call and iPhone dictation features (Neuralink; Interesting Engineering); Neuralink adds that its devices remain investigational without FDA approval, and the post gives no accuracy figures.

5. AI in general. To Google DeepMind’s Demis Hassabis, on Gemini 4 Carbon: “Well done!” and “When can it be accessed?” (). Google says Carbon goes first to “a subset of cyber defenders” (Google). He told Anthropic “Good idea” () on its “self-assessment” technique, in which Claude gives “a preliminary safety assessment of each conversation right after it responds” (Anthropic). He wrote “True” to Box CEO Aaron Levie on a widening gap between AI power users and “basically everyone else” (), and quoted a clip of Microsoft’s Mustafa Suleyman recalling Larry Page’s talk of von Neumann probes with “Larry Page might be right” ().

6. Grok Bot and xAI. Replying to a user who wrote that SpaceXSI “barely has any SOTA models” apart from voice, he wrote, “I know it’s taken longer than expected, but Grok 4.8 will not be a disappointment” and “it will be incredibly useful” (). FrontierDot’s timeline notes that as of Oct. 27 xAI’s models page listed no Grok 4.8 and still called Grok 4.7 its most capable model (FrontierDot). Quoting a post that put Grok Bot above 600,000 daily users, citing Similarweb, he wrote, “Worth noting that Grok @Bot has no free tier” (). He answered Mike Cernovich’s post about how people “get sucked in” by the agent with “Hire Grok @Bot to be an employee” (), and a parent who had Grok Bot build a 70-band punk playlist with “It’s great @Bot” (). He also replied “omg 🤣🤣” to a lisping joke reply from the @grok account (). Grok Bot’s changelog shows no release in the window; the latest, version 0.78.1, carries an Oct. 27 date (changelog).

7. U.S. politics. Beyond the Senate post (see the deep dive), he replied to Spanberger’s post calling her cabinet “the most diverse cabinet Virginia has ever seen” () with “You are utterly racist and sexist regarding White men. Shame on you!” () and reposted a post that counted “0% White men” in the photo (). WJLA reports that the photo “does not show Spanberger’s entire Cabinet” and that her administration includes white male secretaries such as Mark Sickles and Nick Donohue (WJLA); the desk found no new Spanberger response. He quoted a post pointing to the federal voter-fraud tip site with “Report voter fraud to the government” (); that site says rewards of up to $1,000,000 go only to reports “that lead to an arrest and conviction” (America.gov), and NBC News notes “There is no evidence of widespread voter fraud in U.S. elections” (NBC News). He added “Vote Republican!” over Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick’s rally photo (), “Yes” to a post on JD Vance’s Texas remarks (), “At least” to a Babylon Bee satire on Minnesota turnout (), and early Friday “California became a one-party state” ().

8. Crypto and the world. Over a Kobeissi Letter post that reported Binance outflows of “-$5.7 billion” and added “If confirmed,” he wrote “Everyday is Zeroday” (). Blockchain analysts at TRM Labs put the theft at about $6.36 billion, attribute it to North Korea’s TraderTraitor unit, and report that Binance confirmed a security incident, paused withdrawals on several networks and says user funds remain safe (TRM Labs). To a post on how the attacker moved frozen stablecoins he replied, “Super intelligence agents will at some point do this to gain currency for themselves, not a human” (). He also wrote “Interesting” over investor Stanley Druckenmiller’s backing of an ICE-linked perpetual-futures venture ().

9. Media, culture and personal. To a post describing his co-parenting as “corporate scheduling” he answered, “This is wrong on many levels. My older 5 children are adults and live independent lives” (). Under a post noting that several AI CEOs eat vegetarian, he wrote, “I have steak, eggs & coffee for breakfast everyday 🦾” (). He quoted a Palantir co-founder’s PayPal story with “The fraudsters always had outsized moral outrage” () and reposted a clip of his older remarks on Ben Franklin ().

Deep dive: the 51-senator post. At 10:28 p.m. PT Thursday, about seven minutes after announcing his early vote, he posted his “biggest concern”: that a Democratic “clean sweep” of the House, Senate and presidency in 2028 would lead them to “Make DC and Puerto Rico states,” “Open the borders and legalize everyone living in America illegally to cement a permanent majority” and “Increase the size of the Supreme Court” (). His conclusion: “This would result in America becoming a permanent one-party state,” and “Other reasons are irrelevant compared to this one.” Half an hour later he added, “It would be game over for America” (). Early Friday he linked a 2022 post in which he said he would vote Republican, writing “Four years ago …” and “And that is exactly what happened” (), and wrote that Democrats “intend to cement one-party rule forever and make “democracy” meaningless, as they have done in California” ().

The post spread fast among Republicans. Reposts by Musk alone included Dan Bongino (“Please / Read / This”) and his mother, Maye Musk (“Vote ❤️🇺🇸”) (; ). Activist Scott Presler replied, “Yes, this is accurate,” and the Article III Project’s Mike Davis wrote, “Fact Check: 100% True,” according to 2paragraphs (2paragraphs). The sharpest reply came from his own side: Massie wrote that “Republicans in Congress let Trump start a war, increase spending, arm a genocide, betray MAHA, and cover up for Epstein’s coconspirators” (). The desk found no response from Democratic leaders by Friday morning. 2paragraphs also reports that Musk “has reportedly funneled more than $276 million into Republican groups and his super PAC since the start of July,” a figure the desk did not verify (2paragraphs).

What the record shows. The post describes possible future actions by a Democratic majority, not enacted policy; the desk treats each item as his prediction. Texas early voting runs Oct. 19 through Oct. 30 (KRLD/Audacy). The Grok 4.8 promise carries no date, and xAI’s pages still list Grok 4.7 (FrontierDot). Blindsight’s “ready” status rests on Musk’s word; Neuralink says its devices lack FDA approval (Neuralink). The Binance figures come from TRM’s on-chain tracing as of early Oct. 30 UTC (TRM Labs).

Responses. Supportive: Presler and Davis (2paragraphs), Bongino and Maye Musk (). Critical: Massie (). On Virginia, Spanberger’s own post says her secretaries “were selected because they’re the best of the best” ().
